Don't throw the old "if you don't like it don't watch it" at me. That's a strawman that can be used to defend any for of media at all. I used to like this blog back when it had jokes and characters, but now it's degenerated to making Fluttershy do something cute every time with not so much as any effort into trying to make you laugh.
If the art style was different (not cute) no one would read it because the content is so poor. |

Listen here, you ungrateful fuckjaw. This isn't just 'any media', it's a decent, unoffensive tumblr ran by a bloke who's displaying his love for a fine program. He's put days of work into consideration and creation of his pieces, posting them while asking nothing from you. Do you thank him for the effort? No. Do you at least refrain from bitching? No. You obsess over some tiny "degeneration" that others can see past, you criticize based on opinion, rather than construction. There's plenty of funny tumblrs out there, just go to one of them!
There is no one forcing you to look at this. It isn't detracting from anything else, it's not doing you damage, but you decide to get all arsechafed and post random bullshit dictating it as "poor". "Don't like it, don't watch it" is unnapplicable to something offensive or negative. This is just something that you don't like. You're free to not like something, but when you start droning about how nobody else should like it, you're mimicking those intolerant 4chan ass-jackets who criticize us so frequently. So don't call "don't like it don't watch it" a strawman. It's a sage piece of advice that you would do well to follow! |

I used to like this tumblr. It was my favourite.
Then it just... stopped. It just stopped being funny and it just went full Fluttershy does something cute, look everyone - The tumblr. I'm really disappointed. |

I actually don't think I've heard fuckjaw before. Anyway, I should be allowed to criticize something. without it how is anyone suppose to improve. If speccy is really putting his soul into it, why not work at making it funnier, or fleshing out the characters more. Or even drawing it better. Stuff like shading and backgrounds and actually drawing their feet could be added.
In reality he's pumping out two comics a day and hoping that cuteness alone can make it good. A few of my favorite ask pony blogs (Raindrops and Pie sisters for example) have both sunk because of "inspiration" from this blog. I also can't even talk about ask pony blogs without somepony telling me how "amazing and fantastic" the ask pinkie and fluttershy one is. Quality's fine. My problem was with the criticism of the "cute" style. People enjoy cute things. If your criticism is generally disagreed on by others it is therefore invalid, because the artist doesn't have to change to suit your personal tastes. |
