Interesting little excerpt from that link: As hard as it is to believe; there actually do exist people who like My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic and are able to go an hour without working it into the conversation. For that matter, there are people who identify themselves as Bronies and aren't fanboying over it 24/7. There also exist people who don't immediately accuse anyone who doesn't like (or even show an interest) in the franchise as having never seen it. It's just that, thanks to the influence of where the fandom tends to originate from, the most vocal fanatics tend to never shut up. It doesn't help that the hype built up by this has caused many to start trashing the show without having seen it, which in turn makes the more obsessive bronies even more defensive. Also applies to the hatedom, those who just don't like the show or even hate it for somewhat legitimate reasons barely voice their opinions, whereas those that refuse to even watch a single clip go out of their way to flame any YouTube movie or other fan-made content they can find. There is also a second Vocal Minority related to My Little Pony Friendshipis Magic, consisting of fans of the earlier generations who see the new fans as being a bunch of basement dwelling manchildren who are ruining the fandom simply by existing. No, they're not a majority, but they are out there and they love to let you know about it. |

People are still arguing about this? I thought how they portrayed Derpy was just fine and the name in itself is not offense.
Considering the idiocy characters are given in other shows I thought of Derpy as nothing more than a likable klutz. Still, they are allowed to have their own opinion, but they sure seem to be pushing it on everyone else. |

If you ask me, Ditzy is more insulting than Derpy.
Derp just means Derp. Something silly or funny. Or funny looking. It's its own word. It's usually just posted over pictures of funny faces. Ditzy means stupid, absent minded. It's commonly used as an insult. Derpy was NEVER Ditzy in my eyes. Ditzy was some random background pony who doesn't actually even exist mentioned by Dash in an episode made prior to the animation team knowing of Derpy's popularity. And Derpy's canonization is amazing. DILL WITH IT. |

I just find it kinda dumb that we made a background character, who was in no intention of being the way she was, famous in the community, and then get butthurt over her voice.
They could've not put her in at all. It came down to them and they decided to show a little fanservice. Don't complain that it wasn't the way YOU wanted because the fandom fueled your expectations. Just move on. I'm just thankful Studio B are intune with their fanbase. |

You guys realize that EVERY fandom has one hysterical idiot who is constantly terrified that they're THIS CLOSE to becoming identical to the Sonic fandom.
The fact is, with enough effort anyone can find enough arbitrary reasons to compare any group of people with the Sonic fandom. It doesn't make them the same. This comparison is especially stupid because it's taking the word of a tiny minority as if they spoke for everyone. The outpouring over Derpy speaking has been overwhelmingly positive. Don't let a few killjoys ruin it. |

Ya know, it's really sad what's happened to the Sonic fanbase over the past decade. I've always loved Sonic games but I'd NEVER consider myself part of that group. Ever. FiM is the best show - kid or adult - to come around in a very long time. Let's not ruin it with standard internet fan-wank. Studio B is best (N.American) animation studio. |

People will always complain: It's what happens when they get worked up over what they're used to being different when practiced by another person or group of people.
A prime example of this would be the transition phase from the Tenth to Eleventh Doctors in Doctor Who. Following the announcement of Matt Smith's taking on the role, people expressed their severe disappointment. Those people were a larger number than the complainers here. If Matt Smith and the BBC were unfazed by the huge numbers of complaints received as mentioned above, then we should really have nothing to fear. Besides, Hasbro will probably view it as nothing but folly. If it's only a few fans, who would honestly care? It's when the whole fanbase complains about Derpy that they'll be concerned. |
