I like Fluttermac better, but if BigCheer becomes the official couple then I will try my best to learn to love it. Even if I would have prefered Big Mac be with Fluttershy (or Twilight Sparkle as my secondary choice), at least Cheerilee is adorable and has a lovably wholesome personality. Big Macintosh could do a lot worse, even if she is not my first (or second) choice for him.
My gut still tells me that the whole thing will be over and done with by the end of the episode, though. That doesn't mean it's not going to start up a shitstorm though, because you know there will be tons of fans whose OTP will be BigCheer after that episode, even if they break up by the end of it. Hopefully BigCheer shippers and Fluttermac can tolerate each other and be civil-- more than the Avatar shippers were, at least! I can still hear the rounds being fired from the HMS Kataang and the HMS Zutara to this day, like some kind of fandom shellshock. |

Lunatosh could be cute as well-- I am not 100% exclusive to Fluttermac, as I recognize there are other mares out there who would be good for Big Mac. If it wasn't going to be Big Mac and Fluttershy my next choice would have been Big Mac and Twilight Sparkle, although I think that Cheerilee is a good match for him too.
The big thing is that Big Mac and Fluttershy is the most popular het ship within the fandom. Because so many fans were shipping them already, obviously they're going to make the biggest ruckus since they have the most unified voice. Most other Big Mac shippers seem to be taking the stance of "eh, my ship wasn't going to happen anyway, so no skin off my nose," but because Big Mac and Fluttershy was so popular I think a lot of their shippers subconsciously (or consciously) were hoping to have their preferred ship acknowledged by the show's canon. It probably won't ever happen, but that doesn't stop them from wishing. |

^^^ Haha well said, PluckyNinja. This fandom hasn't seen any real shipwars...Not AtLA-level ones anyway. I love FlutterMac and unrequited Big Mac-->Twilight, but I think CheeriMac could be great too :) Definitely looking forward to the episode, and hey, if canon doesn't give you what you want, there's always fanon! |
