I guess tye difference is that every single character in that chart (except Derpy) was stablished has an idiot form the beginning. Derpy has 1 1/2 season without any indication of her behavior so fans had different expectations about her. |

I think it's just one very, very loud person who doesn't seem to like her voice. I was watching HaxMega's livestream and the comments section exploded with praise for her inclusion to the show, as well as all of the classic "oh Derpy" lines.
I really liked Derpy's characterisation. I hope she's used sparingly and to full effect in the future. |

@BattleGT I believe Derpy's only prior definite speaking role was a gasp during Fluttershy's modeling in Green Isn't Your Color... which seemed consistent with her new voice. "Muffins" could've been somepony else. |

I loved canon Derpy, her potrayal was spot-on to how I've always imagined her, BUT, I can not stand that voice they gave her, it gives the wrong impression, with all these other characters they don't have that slow, slurred, and lifeless voice that people associate with retardation, and besides Billy, Ed an Peter didn't start out as stupid as they are now, they weren't setting out to make retarded characters, but because of the way Derpy sounds, it gives people the impression that the crew was trying to make her retarded, when they just wanted to make her clumsy/accident-prone |

@Anon 808 Every show goes off the air eventually. The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and Ed, Edd, n' Eddy both had long and successful runs as shows, nothing can last forever. And Family Guy got brought back not only because it was stupid to cancel it in the first place but because it was a well-loved show. |

"Some fans not liking it" is not fickleness, it's the fandom not being one, single, coherent entity but different kinds of people. There have been people who didn't care for the name, or the fanon personality to begin with. Calling them "ungrateful" because they don't like what you like is just big headedness.
Honestly I have never seen one instance of what OP is complaining about. Some people felt her voice could've been girlier, some didn't like her as more than a background character, some felt the stupidness was a bit too exaggerated, but even the majority of these commenters LOVED the shout out thing and/or have been accepting. I don't see what reason you have to call them out. |

She is barely functional as an individual. I watched it again a few times to be sure. But you guys are deluding yourself if you think she is anything other than mentally challenged. Right down to the slurred speech and inability to notice the repercussions of her own actions.
I don't think that making a retarded pony was very sensitive. It would have been just as efficient and a lot more "daww" inspiring if they had used more of the positive Derpy fancannon. Such as the "derpy is best mommy," "derpy is really smart despite being wall-eyed," or "derpy the mailmare" fics. We would know just as surely that the creators had been paying attention to us. And it wouldn't have created anywhere near the controversy. |
