Fluttershy should be generosity. Or maybe Pinkie, she does throw a lot of parties.

Rarity's so kindness.

BZZZT.

Nope, The Last Roundup nailed the coffin in THAT argument when Applejack refused to come back home.

A truly loyal pony wouldn't do that. That really proved that AJ is more fitting the element of honesty, and RD Loyalty. (Plus, RD lies frequently. Would you imagine someone only capable of honesty as a prankster? They wouldn't get many pranks done.)

I concur. Dash's element always felt a little tacked-on to me.

The elements are just glitched. Nopony dares to mention it in case it reverses the whole binding thing.

Yeah, it seemed like they got stuck with whatever Element they happened to express in the pilot.

Also, flankhole?

The elements thing is a Hasbro shenanigan the writers have to stick with, even though the characters they built are actually far too complex to fit into such simplistic categories.

"that's what I consider loyal"

The moment you inject any kind of subjectivity into an argument like that, it kind of waters it down. Despite the fact that we argue subjectively, anyhow. :/

In any case, the Elements of Harmony aren't something the writers stick hard and fast to. They appear when a big bad needs to be defeated, and that's pretty much it.

I dunno, guys, on the one hoof, AJ withheld the truth in The Last Roundup, which, while not technically lying, is still a form of dishonesty. But on the other, AJ had a horrible time even just omitting the truth and dodging questions, you could see it tearing her up. She's just not capable of being dishonest without it causing her a great deal of stress. AJ is still the Element of Honesty, to me, mostly because it is usually quite foolish to create fanon that deliberately goes against canon. But I also accept her as the Element of Honesty because I just can't see her being any other Element, even Loyalty.

Meanwhile, Dash has a similar question being asked about her Element. Once again, on the one hoof, aside from saving her friend's lives on occassion (and a few strangers), Dash doesn't seem to go out of her way to stick by her friends. Hay, if she thinks it's for the right cause, she'll butt heads with her friends. In Over a Barrel, Dash chose to support the Buffalo, and tried to help them get their feud with the Appaloosians ended. Meanwhile, the majority of her friends stayed in Appaloosa, and AJ and Dash argued over the matter. Dash wasn't 100% loyal to her friends in that episode, and chose to be more loyal to the Buffalo, for the purpose of helping them regain the stomping grounds that had been claimed by the Appaloosians. If she's loyal to anything, it appears that she's probably loyal to a good cause, and since her friends are often the spearhead of a good cause, Dash's loyalty defaults to them.

However, she does do her damdest for her friends when they are in need. Even if it isn't something glamourous like catching them when they fall, and something more mundane like simply having patience and not flying on ahead (such as in Dragonshy), she will make an effort to do it. Dash isn't the kind of pony to like going slow, and detests standing still, but she will do it if need be, no matter how much it drives her up the wall.

It is also worth noting that Dash was determined to find AJ and bring her back to Ponyville in The Last Roundup, she was much more vocal than the others about it, and when AJ refused to return to Ponyville, Dash was the first to start confronting AJ about it. While the rest of the Mane 6 were all concerned with AJ, none of them made as big of a fuss over things as Dash did from the moment they left the surprise party all the way up to after the cart chase.

It is for that reason, that I find Dash to really be the Element of Loyalty. If this question was asked on Friday, I would have doubt in my mind about it, but The Last Roundup, to me, has proven that Dash has the right Element.

That's because Appledash is practically canon.

Applejack promised to bring back money to fix town hall.
If she came back without any, that would maker her what for breaking her promise?

Dishonest.
