I thought the voice was a little off at first too, but I got use to it pretty quick. I think I personally was imagining something a little more...feminine I guess. Not that chicks can't have a voice like that (she's voiced by a woman, right?) but I guess I was just imagining something differently. But hey, it's there, it's canon, and if the creators feel like changing it up a little to be more acceptable (if she talks in later eps, which she might) I'm fine either way. |

Her voice is growing on me. A lot of things in this show has required that kind of patience and time since the first time I watched it, way back in last February.

Well I think that was only a little bit of her character, Simlun. I don't think the creators actually mean to make any of the ponies who have a few minutes of screen time and lines to be considered inherently "stupid".
Even with Snails, I don't think that was quite their aim. I'm willing to bet, though, that as we see more of her character we'll enjoy it |

I rather like her voice, I will agree with CogWeaver that I imagined a more feminine voice but after re-watching the scene I found the voice rather rapidly growing on me. |

Pretty much ninja'd what I was saying. Since I've had time to let my total excitement over Derpy to settle down (though I'm still beaming about it), I've noticed that Derpy's voice is tomboyish, like Dash's, and that I was kind of expecting a more femining voice, too. But, now that I listen to her lines, the tomboy voice just seems right, better than a more feminine voice. I wonder where the show's creators are going to go with Derpy now. If this is just a one-off cameo from Derpy and she's going to now go back to being the Waldo Character, then that'll be fine. If they're going to keep giving her voiced parts, then hey, bonus! Right? |

@Cogweaver - Totally agree. And whether or not she is "slow" or whatever is irrelevant (and if she is, more power to her). She's sweet, adorable and means well. Also, everything about her is what I expected and more! |

The thing is, there's no indication that she's genuinely stupid or disabled or what have you. She's just clumsy and a bit unlucky--if bad luck was a symptom of mental retardation, I'd be there myself :P |

I find her voice good, yet inconsistant.
She sounds different in certain sentances than she does in others. My personal favorite voice is "Are you okay Rainbow Dash? Is there anything I can do to help?" voice, which cuts back on the slurring. But either way, I really love her voice. Hell, I own a blog about the pony, and it made me fall back in love with her. |

I don't particularly mind Derpy's voice, but I have to admit I did expect it to be higher.
Besides, who knows? Maybe Depry might pull a Bon-Bon on us and have a completely different voice in her next appearance. |
