My headcanon:
Derpy is Dinky's mother. Sparkler is Dinky's sister. Carrot Top is Dinky/Derpy's friend. The unicorn is Dinky's father. The filly at the park is Tootsie Flute, Lyra and Bon Bon's daughter, and Sparkler was babysitting her. |

Well the Sparkler + Carrot pic helps a bit. That means that Carrot is Sparkler's friend, hence why they allow Dinky to travel with her. |

I do find it interesting how these specific ponies keep appearing together. Although Derpy and Dinky haven't appeared together, they've constantly put Derpy and Carrot together as well as Dinky and Carrot. As for Sparkler, I'm not sure where she fits. We keep seeing her with other ponies and in other towns. I'm thinking she was just a random pony.
If Studio B really does know how Derpy's family works(and it looks like they do) maybe they added that new unicorn so Dinky would have a dad.(Same could be said about Sparkler being her sister) After all, a single mother(that's possibly mentally challenged) taking care of an only child doesn't really feel right in this kind of show. However, now that Derpy is 100% canon, maybe we'll get answers down the line. We didn't even know Rarity had a sister until episode 17, Pinkie Pie's weren't mentioned until episode 23 and both are main characters. Heck we know nothing about poor Scoots. |

I just thought of something. The thing about Sparkler appearing in the park with the random kid supports the "brother/sister" program. She ran with Dinky in the race because she has no real sister. And Carrot Top is Dinky's mom. |

I don't think Studio B is ever going to bother resolving this argument. They already gave the biggest shoutout ever to the brony community by making Derpy canon and giving her speaking lines. We'll just have to be happy with that and agree that the fanon Derpy family tree makes no apparent sense. |
