Derpy has frequently been shown to be a popular, well-liked, successful pony. She was part of the Canterlot "pony everypony should know" montage, with a bag on her head and pearls around her neck. She was a VIP in Best Night Ever. She's dumb, silly and clumsy, but we're supposed to like her as much as we do.

I'm kind of torn. A part of me wants her to just sort of fade back into the ether now so she doesn't wear out her welcome / distract from the main characters, but another deeply stupid part of me really wants a Derpy-centric episode. |

What about an episode that's not centered on Derpy but one centered around her? That is an episode that focuses on the Mane Six but they're doing something Derpy related.

Actually, I expect Derpy will return to being the "Where's Waldo?" character for the rest of the season. The writers needed to bring her into the spotlight briefly so that kids watching the show would understand that there's a reason they should be looking carefully for the silly gray pony with the crossed eyes. |

She damaged the town Hall, so Applejack decided to donate the prize money for the Hall's repairs. She was put there for a reason, not just to please the fandom. |
