IMHO, they forgot them and finally realized that when they got back to Ponyville. They likely panicked, informing Celestia about it, and she went and flew them back to Ponyville so they wouldn't be left for dead in the desert, because Ponyville was likely over 100 miles away from Dodge Junction, and the two of them likely wouldn't survive long enough to get back to Ponyville by hand/hoof-cart. |

This is one of those moments when what the characters would normally do is sacrificed for comedy. It can get annoying if this is done too much, but it's not, at least not in this show. You can't take it too seriously. It's MEANT to be funny, and in normal circumstances, they wouldn't leave em behind I suppose, but then we wouldn't have gotten this hilarious scene. |
