IIRC, he said he was good and done after Z, but the Meddling Executives wanted another Dragon Ball, so they hired someone to try and write some more. Which hardly anybody liked. |

Of course it isn't canon, but I find it delightfully funny because it's so ludicrous.
Also, Toriyama made the ENTIRE Dragonball Z saga begrudgingly because he was pushed on by the publisher because Dragonball was too popular. So he made it as a bit of a jab/parody on the whole fighting anime/manga and it actually went places. |

GT was literally "Asspull: the series"
"Oh yeah, there's this red dragon, and it turns Goku into a kid, an then there are machine mutants, and Vegeta goes evil for the umphteenth time, and goku turns from a golden gorilla into Pink Panther and saves the day. Oh! And the negative energy of all the wishes Shernon fulfilled turn into evil dragons and Vegeta turns into Pink Panther too and then they fuse, but the fusion doesn't last long so Goku saves the universe as a kid and fuses with Shenron." I mean, what the actual fuck? |

@ anon 88994 The irony is that the idea of the dragon balls being overused coming back to bite them is a good one, it just drowns in terrible execution and the rest of it. Hell, bringing back old badguys because they break out of HFIL? Good idea, done badly.
As for the picture, well its kinda inevitably where it was going wasn't it? |

^The thing about Dragon Ball Z and GT is the exponential growth of the power levels, which renders most of the past supervillains, like Frieza and Cell, who in their time were absolutely fucking terrifying (a genocidal spacetyrant and the perfect monster) pretty much useless in the hands of the protagonists in GT.
And, if you are referencing the growing ridiculousness of the super saiyan forms, well, yeah. It may have been best that DB ended in GT, since the SSJ forms after 4 most likely would have been uncannily ridiculous (long, multicolored or flashing hair and fur, huge muscles), but on the other hand, it is still bit of a shame that we didn't get to see them. |
