OKAY REPOSTING FOR FIXING STUPID MINDLESS ERRORS OF MINE.
Also this allows me to explain it all in one post: This is a chart I made up for a MASSIVE fic I'm writing, but I felt like just putting it all down in one image and putting it out for all to see. Because that fic is frustrating to write and I'd much rather just get the idea out. The fic idea I was going with was that while we know of the 6 elements of harmony, there were in fact a total of 12 elements: Honesty - Applejack Kindness - Fluttershy Loyalty - Rainbow Happiness (laughter) - Pinkie Generosity - Rarity Connectivity (Magic/Friendship) - Twilight Knowledge - Celestia Love - Luna - Hate - Nightmare Moon Function - Starswirl - Chaos - Discord Creativity - Applebloom Dreaming - Scootaloo Service/Work - Sweetie Belle Spike, Pipsqueak, Pumpkin Cake and Pound Cake all act as "back-up" element bearers (Spike being a wild card being a dragon as he can'tpower and element, but he can still be a place-holder for a bearer) The ruling trinity of Equestria was (and still technically is) Celestia, Luna and Starswirl. Celestia moves the sun, Luna controls the moon, and Starswirl "swirls" the stars (makes them move). Starswirl originally created the Elements in an attempt to make his greatest magical creation yet: Pure Life. However, dark magic got involved, the being he was creating split into the individual elements, and he got transformed into Discord, who then had to be sealed away with the power of the newly fashioned elements by Celestia and Luna (somewhat to Celestia's pain as I was going for a shipping thing between her and Starswirl, but that's just me) The dark circles around Celestia illustrate that she either has a darker side that we just haven't seen yet (the ?) or that she does not have a darker side as she is the embodiment of light and knowledge (which can be taken in two ways - her dark side is nothing as she does not have one, or her dark side is nothing in the case of her becoming nothing - aka, being destroyed) The mentor system should be fairly clear, using the Celestia > Twilight template, but it's basically as follows: ( [Aa] meaning possible, but not shown) Celestia > Twilight > Spike Luna > Fluttershy > Pipsqueak Starswirl > Pinkie > Pumpkin Cake & Pound Cake [Granny Smith] > Applejack > Applebloom [Spitfire] > Rainbow > Scootaloo [Fancy Pants] > Rarity > Sweetie Belle That might have been pretty obvious though... . (oh also for Spike shippers, take note that he's placed exactly between Rarity and Applejack...though that was just something I noticed when putting this together, it wasn't intentional..........[spikexapplejackftw])OKAYDONE. |

for Starswirl > Pinkie, the original idea (that had a major role in leading to all of this) came from the whole shipping thing between Discord and Pinkie. However, I saw the potential relationship as more of something like mentorship equivalent to Celestia and Twilight. And then after the idea evolved into Discord actually being Starswirl, recent episodes with a lot of Pinkie screen time had me start thinking how much Pinkie...sort of needed some guidance. The character I had planned for Starswirl, while much like the stoic teacher much of the fanbase imagines him to be, to also be much of a prankster like Discord. But unlike Discord, he would do nice pranks and would be very systematic with things instead of being random - always having a purpose and plan to his pranks. For Pinkie, she seems close on being too happy and out of control - Starswirl seems like just the answer to that.
As for Luna > Fluttershy > Pipsqueak, that was partially just a way the chart fell, and partially playing off of the relationships between them introduced in Nightmare Night. Once Luna was less threatening, Fluttershy started warming up to her. Pipsqueak in the line was....actually, purely just the way he fell on the chart. It can work when you think about it, but otherwise there's no actual reason for it like with Starswirl > Pinkie. |

You know, if you switch Rarity and Rainbow Dash you'll have a more balanced unicorn-pegasus-earth-unicorn-pegasus-earth pattern for the mane 6.
But that's just nitpicking. |
