I dislike the fic, explained why before, don't feel the need to do it again. While I didn't laugh at the fic, i was disappointed with it and I rack my brain trying to figure out why its lauded with praise. |

"Some of the dialogue is awkward, the plot is built on what is for all intensive purposes a contrived mccguffin, and the transitions tend to be jarring. As for the re-writting of dash, it goes deeper then that, she wasn't just rewritten she was destroyed. The Dash we know died with her mind, everything that has been built up was knocked down in seconds. It felt to me like the author had an idea for an OC character but to add notoriety he obliterates Dash so he can rebuild her as his OC. That...character at the end, isn't Dash...its something new." "It relies on a lot of tropes and as i said the whole thing is built on a magical mccguffin. I just don't find it a very good story any really any front. " |

I've never read MLD (not my thing), but I understand it's incredibly sad to some folks.
Some people dislike crying so much they'll do anything to avoid it. As weird as it sounds, I think laughing inappropriately at sad things is a defensive mechanism. There are also those people whose brains are wired such that upset or angry people actually trigger a reward mechanism in their brain. They enjoy seeing other people upset. It could also just be a plain old immaturity thing. You know, some folks don't learn until they get kicked in the ass by real life. OP: What should you do, or can you do? Smile and nod and move on. It's probably not a good idea to recommend similar fics to your friend in the future. |

People can have differing opinions. For example, I was completely indefferent about My Little Dashie. Maybe the gentleman in question thought humans and ponies interacting was ridiculous. |

Well I actually laughed a lot while reading it.
But I wasn't laughing at the story, which was actually pretty sad. But rather at the comments that where posted in Google Docs... I couldn't believe that even a soldier who was in Kosovo and Afghanistan bawled like a little girl. Oh, come on! |
