It still doesn't justify the bastardization of one of the mane 6. It's something that shouldn't be done, it's like making a fanfiction of Bloo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and making him not an in-your-face jerk. People shouldn't completely reverse a character. It's not something any writer should ever do. |

091, since you brought that up, thats the main reason I dislike the fic. Yea she gets a new "life", but wasn't her old one basically obliterated since i don't remember if she got her old memories back. Idk, leaves a bad taste in my mouth, not one of sadness but one of annoyance and anger. It feels like a ruthless destruction of a character for plot convenience and it soils the whole thing for me. |

I wouldn't call it shit, its well written at least. It just all feels so needless, and the set-up is contrived. No matter how powerful the main story is, its those elements that just taint the whole thing. |

So apparently this is a mixed assortment of reactions. Some like it, some hate it, some are okay with it, some aren't. And while I do get where the negative side is coming from not liking the fact that RD's personality was re-written, I still like it. It's well written and has since been the first work of fiction in 7+ years that has gotten me to shed some manly tears. |

BK_leon, its well written to a degree. Some of the dialogue is awkward, the plot is built on what is for all intensive purposes a contrived mccguffin, and the transitions tend to be jarring. As for the re-written, it goes deeper then that, she wasn't just rewritten she was destroyed. The Dash we know died with her mind, everything that has been built up was knocked down in seconds. It felt to me like the author had an idea for an OC character but to add notoriety he obliterates Dash so he can rebuild her as his OC. That...character at the end, isn't Dash...its something new. |

^I still have to give it props for actually getting me to shed a tear. I know it was a bastardization of her character but maybe because I was able to get past the MLP aspect and see it as a story of man who is given the chance to bring some happiness back into his life through child adoption was why I was able to enjoy it as much as I do now. |

Even on that front I find it a little lacking. I relies on a lot of tropes and as i said the whole thing is built on a magical mccguffin. I just don't find it a very good story any really any front.
However, what really gets me is the rabid fanbois who slaughter anyone who criticizes it, which further taints it for me. It makes me wonder if thats how people who dislike MLP feel when confronted by rabid bronies. |

My problem is not necessarily the slendering of one of my favorite characters of the show, it is the fact that the main protagonist is a freaking creep. I am sorry, but why should I relate to a guy who is also a fan of the show, but is it because he sees no other thing in his life to be happy about and actually walks around the streets with a self made Dash plush doll out of a Lion King doll, till he can find a Dash one that will give his life a bit more sense. Then he finds a baby version of Dash and takes her in, not knowing what else to do and raises her as his child, till 15 years later Celestia and co show up in front of his door and take her back.
The main character acts like any brony cliché known to the fandom and is very creepy to begin with, he really does not something in order to find out what the heck is going on and am I really supposed to believe you are able to hide something like a colorful and energetic pony for over 15 years without anyone getting a clue of it. It really just reads like the mother daughter fantasy of some guy, with a lot of contrived and predictable clichés thrown in, so we feel sorry about her departure back in her own world. I am sorry, but I can`t "cry" about something that convoluted, I rather laugh my ass off. If some people consider this thing the "Sophie`s choice" of MLP fanfics, you guys really need to see the movie itself or a better one. Oh and did I mention that some people actually wrote "My little Dashie" porn? Fuck you all. |
