As brief as it was, Pinkie Pie is actualy capable of crying way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way worse than any crying the babies did. And I don't just mean the stream of high pressure anime tears, either; poor mare has quite a set of lungs on her when she's crying for real.
I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the focus of a later episode was the Element of Laughter being reduced to a weeping, sobbing mess. Corruption by an Element of Despair, have one of her family members or some old friend we've never seen before die (albeit referencing death indirectly because it's a TV Y show), being scolded and/or fired* for screwing up big, a misunderstanding about one of her friends moving away, whatever. You just know there's gonna be an episode where Pinkie's reduced to a crying wreck at some point. * Though I seriously doubt the Cakes would fire her (at least not permanently) considering how highly tolerant they've been of many of her other actions. It'd have to be a really huge screw-up, like accidentally burning the Sugarcube Corner to the ground or losing the babies. |

@Jackarunda Yeah, even when it's something you'd expect to happen in a babysitting episode (Especially a Pinkie Pie babysitting episode), it was still sad to see Pinkie driven to non-joke crying for once.
There may be Internet arguments from people reading too much into kids' cartoons regarding the Cake babies doing crazy super baby stuff older colts and fillies can't even do, but the utter chaos caused by pegasus flight and unicorn magic makes Pinkie's breakdown near the end all the more effective. It really says something when the month-old twins feel guilty about making her cry. |
