This cello is actually named: it is "the Countess of Stainlein, ex-Paganini of 1707," the first of Stradivarius' "Forma B" cellos. It has been owned by the same cellist for the last 54 years; he recently died. His estate is selling it, with the price expected to be in the US$6 million range.
I was thinking the entire time I was reading that article that it would be funny to have someone add a picture of Octavia panting over this cello. ^_^ Anyone? |

Stradivari fanboys are the worst. The instruments don't actually sound any different from well-made modern ones and they've got nothing on a good e-cello. |
