Incredibly low genetic probability as well as non-identical twins?

Or Mr. Cake could just be what anyone would be like after being awake for 30 hours worrying about any of the many complications which could arise during child birth.

That's because there is something wrong with you.

5 bucks says you're the kind of moron who sees a 'Cupcakes' reference in everything Pinkie does.

^ Let me clarify.

It's more of a story gimmick and a world-building type deal, methinks. TVTropes lists it more of a lampshading of Hollywood Genetics than hints of infidelity. Pound and Pumpkin needed to be pegasi and unicorn to allow their hijinks.

And in a world of colorful cartoon ponies, that's just the kind of thing that tends to fly. It doesn't stick hard and fast to notions of reality.

I know that's an over-used response, but I still think it's true, and these contrived plot conveniences are no stranger to the world of fiction.

Let's see...wood conducting electricity, horses riding swarms of butterflies, tattoos spontaneously appearing on asses...safe to say, our laws of science don't apply here. I'm willing to buy really Mr. Cake's explanation.

Seconded. I interpreted Mr. Cake's line to be the writers' way of saying, "Just roll with it, folks. It's funnier that way."

I thought they were actually making a joke suggesting Mrs. Cake had been sleeping around. I mean, c'mon, listen to how he says "that explains everything, right?" They're TOTALLY suggesting she's been getting her baby batter from third party sources.

I'm filing this one under "Getting Crap Past the Censors". There's no way they could openly suggest, even in jest, that Mrs. Cake was unfaithful. That doesn't mean the writers, animators, and Mister Cake's VA couldn't do the scene in a way that could imply it.

^, ^^ Why jump to those conclusions, though, when just noting the seeming improbability of the scenario is just as likely?

You know, instead of assuming that Mrs. Cake was a cuckold, it might be easier to assume that their earlier ancestors were less faithful instead.

TWINS = THE ANTICELESTIA

They are spawns of Evil! The real Cake twins were kidnapped and switched. That's why one of them is unicorn and one is pegasos; they are changelings.

Also, their real mother is either a diamond dog or a timberwolf. Their real father is Tirek.

How is is necessarily unfaithfulness?

Who's to say that Mr. Cake isn't fully aware of the sexcapades and simply knows you can go talking about in polite society?

They could even be swingers.

The only really plausible answer for them being twins one with wings and one with a horn would (ignoring the repressed genes thing) would be the father having both the genes for wings and a horn. This would seem to imply the father is an Alicorn.

TLDR: MOLESTIA DID IT

Or, 1: it IS recessive genes
2: they live in a magical world so that would add to the craziness
3: it's a fucking kids' show
