I wouldn't go as far as hell yes, but I do love Rescue at Midnight Castle, a few of the other episodes, and the first full-length movie. So much framework for FiM, and incredibly dark themes for the 'girl show' genre. The 80s were interesting times in children's TV, that's for sure. |

the very first special was okay, but it could have been better. I did like some of the early G1 villains (Catrina from the 2nd special, Madeline Kahn & Cloris Leachman from the movie).
other than that, G1 is pretty much crap, but nowhere near as crap as G1.5 (Tales), G3, G3.5, or G3.666 (newborns). |

HELL YEAH.
The greatest show ever made? Of course not. But if you don't set the bar too high, it's an entertaining watch. You get to see the beginnings of what lead to FIM. If you don't like it, you don't like it but I think some people go in expecting too much from it. |

I thought it was okay. I always watched it on Saturday mornings after Transformers G1. I couldn't miss it because it was between Transformers and G.I. Joe G1 followed by She-Ra then He-Man and Brave Star, I think. |

I watched the movie as a child and if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't watch FiM. I also watched the G1 movie before I watched the FiM pilot and I liked the G1 references in FiM. (Spike, the rainbow of light) |
