If Fluttershy truly loved nature, she would understand the natural cycle that some things need to be eaten by bigger things. It's a bit tiring how she's portrayed as being horrified by meat being eaten, despite the fact that she knows more about the natural world than anypony else. If anything, she should be the most accepting of another creature having an omnivorous or carnivorous diet. |

Anywho; yeah, you can get a horse to eat meat, but obviously, they don't have the teeth or behaviours to be hunters themselves, and you prolly have too much time in your hands if you do pull it off yourself. Case in point; Mongolian Death HOERS. |

Well there's some kind of double standard in the world of talking cartoon animals. So Fishes and worms are ok because they aren't cute - unless it's in a story about fishes or worms.
Remember the first Madagaskar movies? Eating other land land-animals is bad, but eating fishes is alright. |

Heck, non-Mongolian horses will very very occasionally chase and stomp and take bites out of smaller creatures. It's very rare, but it's not unknown; something to do with them being weird swivel-eyed mad things made out of teeth, muscle, and perpetual on-edgeness. I don't pretend to know the mind of such a thing.
Fluttershy knows her own capabilities, and has a lot of carnivores to feed. The only unanswered question posed by the show is where she keeps the slaughterhouse and whether she boils up the chow outdoors or in her own kitchen. |

I've seen a deer bite the head off a bird, and squirrels feed on meat out of the trash.
