It's actually because furries are the only fetish group that have turned their fetish into a lifestyle and proudly shove it into the faces of everyone they come into contact with. Then when people tell them that their fetish is weird (which is how people react to all fetishes, really) they act as if they're some minority, fighting a great battle against persecution. In other words, people hate furries because they are obnoxiously in-your-face about something that no one wants to hear about. That "something" being their love of humping animal people. |

Oh, damn, sonny. It's a lot more than 0.1%. Granted, it's still exaggerated way out of proportion and I know my fair share of decent furries, but let it never be said that the majority of the furry community is anything less than depraved.
The problem is that the furry phenomenon has grown so large that it isn't really even a fetish anymore, not by itself. Rather, sick fucks from around the internet look at the massive community of hyper-accepting pseudo-zoophiles and think "wa hey, my fetish will be accepted here!" and hence another sick fuck joins the ranks of the sick fuck hordes. |

2390- Communities often do that, its a natural(i use the term loosely) progression of groups that the fringe will meet and expand. Happens in whole societies, look at Japan(just...japan), Germany(the BDSM and bond), or here in the US. Its just that the fandom is so large that its reached that point, couple that with the freedom the internet provides and you have a mix for it.
