The issue that usually ends up being debated in the comments on these images - the tradeoff between religious freedom and gender equality - is a topic debated in the real world. There's a French law that stirred up enormous controversy on the specific matter of the hijab. I don't think Ponibooru is the best place to discuss it - I don't think this fandom is equipped to come to an informed conclusion on the matter - but I won't ban its discussion. All that said, do not use this topic as an excuse to deliberately antagonize other users. It's rude and pointless, whichever side you're on. I'll be keeping an eye out. Stay polite, okay? I too like this, i'm not a fan of black twi but Why should people draw them? Why do you need to bring that "HURR OPRESSION DURP YOU SUPPORTIN TEH ENEMY/YOU AREWRONG" crap in, its good art
Maybe just maybe for discussions make a meta pic and LINK it so if a comment is not about critique it goes to that "discussion" or something. I'm not saying "YOU BIGOOT HAVE NO POINT NO POSTDERP" everyone has an opinion and have the right to express it, Just want it out of that stuff outside of the art. it's not bigotry! not on my part anyway. I don't like black twi and it has nothing to do with racism, twi's personality just doesn't gel with the type of personality I see in most if not all black women I meet. but I'll tell you who I can totally support being "the black one" is Rarity. Rarity is a strong willed fiercely independant sophisticated individual whose personality I can EASILY transpose onto a high-class black woman. Also... Twi's hair looks f-ing STUPID on a black girl. |

no, culture, not race, culture, you can deny it all you want but racial lines do incur a certain amount of cultural divergence, and because of that certain personality traits are encouraged and supported within communities that are predominately one race or another. These discrepencies aren't 100% of course, there are going to be individuals who buck their cultural moors. but generally you can count on certain behaviors to be viewed as "desirable" within certain ethinc communities and... you know what? I'm on a @#$%^& website devoted to pictures of cartoon ponies and I'm having a discussion about f-ing racial stereotypes... forget I said a @#$%^& thing! |

I think the big issue to me is that this isn’t a forum to discuss heavy topics like this, it just isn’t. This is not a place for arguing and fighting, I don’t know if I’d even want to see much philosophical debating here. That’s not really the point of this site, we’re here to see and share our creative works; not to go nuts or argue out the big questions in life. Yes religion and race will make it into art here, especially when humanizing. It’s not possible to ignore the fact that once made into humans they will need a race. Not everyone agrees on which they should be. Does that mean that someone should be able to blast off about “terrorists” because an imaginary character was drawn wearing a hijab? I don’t think so. So what if you don’t see them this way? Is it really going to mess up your day so badly that you have to click into the image you don’t like to leave mean and sometimes uninformed views on it? Everyone here has some humanization thing they really don’t like. Personally I get upset every time I see AJ in daisy dukes and/or with a midriff going on. Those things piss me off, but I don’t have a right to complain about it or demand that people stop because it is their creative work. They can do whatever they want with it. We’re all part of a fandom that promotes tolerance, that doesn’t mean you have to like something or someone. It means you let them go about it in peace. As long as no one is actually being hurt by this (and I don’t mean it bugs you, I mean you are not physically or emotionally injured) there’s zero problem with it. Don’t click in, click past, or ignore. There’s no need to go blasting off over something you don’t like, the only reason you’d do that is to cause a big scene for attention or to troll. So please, if you don’t like it just skip it. It’s really that simple. TL;DR Tolerance doesn’t mean you have to like it. If you don’t like something, just leave it be and move on. |

Muslims contrary to popular depictions, can actually touch animals, even pigs and dogs.
There are such things as Muslim Vets afterall, and they still obey the Islamic rule. Long story short eventhough some animals are considered dirty, you can wash your hands ritualistically to cleansed. Yes, we Muslims are not forbidden to touch, only that it is undesirable. |
