People that work with equines know that this is more like a tap to the shoulder or "let's roll!" innuendo.
It also a sign of mutual trust since if the animal would react negatively to this gesture you are in position to get bucked (that's why you must always slap a horses flank ftom the side, which in terms explain the meaning of "flanking" as a word which implies positioning behind but also at the side of someone). |
