... And before his eyes, she starts to bloom. Vine-like growths started sprouting from every inch of her skin. A tree erupted out of her back, rapidly growing with each second. Apples started to grow on the tree, and the strong scent of apples overwhelmed his nose. The vine growths starts to take root and slowly raised her up to the dead sky.
He can only watch in dumbstruck awe at her "blooming". It was the most beautiful thing he had ever witnessed in this hellish world. Her tranquil face betrayed none of the pains the transformation had inflicted on her. When almost her whole body had been engulfed in vines and apples, she looked down and gave him a sad smile, whispering, "G'night sugarcube." And then the apples exploded. They made no sound. Each scattered to a thousand fragments, taking her and the whole "tree" with them. The wind swept them up, and soon the fragments are spread throughout the land. He can only smile and bask in the beauty of her bloom. He did not flinch when her fragments touched his skin and sprouted to golden vines. Nor did he react to the dying screams of the villagers around him. He can only shed a tear of happiness. He can finally become one with her. Forever. |
