"You march through the wasteland that was once Burnbarrel Blvd, straight toward the immense pot-bellied stove that now dominates the landscape.
You knock on the door of the stove, and a tiny grating slides open. 'Hot enough for you?' says a voice from inside. 'Uh, yeah,' you reply. 'Who are you?' 'Why, I'm Ol' Scratch, that's who I am. A down on his luck devil, doin' the best he can. And who might you be?' 'Oh, I'm just an Adventurer. I'm ransacking the place looking for treasure.' 'Well,' he says, 'you must think you're pretty hot stuff. That kind of arrogance really makes my blood boil. Don't you think I might be a little too hot for you to handle? 'Hold on,' says Ol' Scratch, 'let me get warmed up...' as he writhes around in his stove. 'Uh... okay...' 'Is it hot in here,' he continues, 'or is it just me?' 'It's... you?' you reply, sighing. He emerges from the stove, brushes himself off, and says 'Are you ready to feel the burn?' 'No, but I'm certainly ready to put a stop this neverending stream of dumb heat jokes,' you say, raising your weapon." |
