also I don't think it was stolen. It just wasn't allowed in certain areas of Texas so they smuggled it across the county line to lots of thirsty men. |

Yeah, they were bootlegging. At the time, Coors didn't distribute their stock outside their shipping range, so their product wasn't allowed in certain areas west of the Mississippi River. The plot of the movie was that they were in a bet to bootleg an entire truckload of the stuff from Texarkana to Atlanta within 28 hours. Bandit was the spotter for Snowman and was supposed to take the brunt of abuse from the highway patrolmen so Snowman could make the delivery without any trouble. A MLP version of Smokey and the Bandit gets me all tingly. Somebody fund that! |
