I bought both the "Royal Castle Friends" and the "Pony School Pals & Cheerilee" play sets that Target recently began stocking. I noticed that Target's sales system has both toys ID'd in the system by the product name "FOREVER"...
I LOLed... hard! Clearly Pinkie Pie is working at Target now! |

If you're paying $30 for dollar-store bits of plastic, your name is accurate.
Spend it on fan-made plushies instead or wait until Hasbro makes something worth buying. |

The toys in your dollar store must be pretty nice! |

^^Hasbro will never make anything worth buying...not unless you're a girl who likes piny ponies |

The price is typical of toys of this quality, and on the whole, look reasonably decent. The only real mistake is Celestia's color, but the rest are representative of their characters.
Supporting Hasbro means they'll have more interest in continuing the program. This is never a bad thing. |

One brushable pony...$5.
Highly posable well made Japanese action figure...$40. I think you can say which is the better deal. |

Anon1, buying official merch shows Hasbro there is serious support for the show. Enough support shown, they'll probably start producing more show accurate toys and merch.
And why should any of us buy fan made stuff if we don't want to? Maybe we want official stuff? |

They probably had to do a price adjustment on a different item as the UPC is not in the system anymore, or they are trying to soft-discontinue the item.
How that works: Target's system automatically reorders items after a certain quantity of them are checked out. By scanning something else, and entering the price, they avoid the automatic reorder trigger, therefore naturally selling the item out of the store. They can permanently discontinue the item out of the chain, as there are no more sales recorded for the actual UPC. That is abusive, and very bad for Hasbro. Go back and try to get it rung up correctly. |

I guess they couldn't fit the "alone" in anymore. |

The boxes probably got UPC correction/scan-fix stickers from this product line:

Not 100% sure I'm following what you're saying, but it sounds like you're suggesting this is something they'd do to clear out the product. These playsets I bought actually only came out earlier this week. These are brand new products for Targets everywhere. All the clearance stuff (and MAN did I get some good deals last week) rang up as the regularly named items, but with the clearance discount prices. Those old sets have been around since August, and like I said, the old sets still had their old SKUs and item descriptions. I bought the Gala set, Rarity's Carousel Boutique, and the large Canterlot Castle set for spare parts (customs and spare parts dawg). They were half off, so no complaints there. These new "Royal Castle Friends" and "Pony School Pals & Cheerilee" sets weren't there on the 31st. These really are brand new items, and there were also no UPC stickers over the regular UPC codes printed by the toy manufacturer either. Also, dug up my receipt from the clearance stuff I bought on the 31st. TOYS-SPORTING GOODS 086020501 PRINCESS T $16.88 086020841 CANTERLOT T $20.98 086022707 MLP 29207 T $14.98 These identify, in order as: *Royal Ball at Canterlot Castle *Canterlot Castle set (with Shine Brite Princess *Luna) Rarity's Carousel Boutique |

The actual UPC codes on the two boxes are only one digit apart, and target's system has these entered as interchangeable at my local store, at least. They do the same with the $8 scooter pony toys and with the Shine Brite line too. ANY character rung up will ring up as a unit quantity on that product "line". If I bought a Snow Catcher, a Plumsweet, and a Twilight Sparkle, it would show up as one line item and a "3 @ 4.99 ea". If I got the Twilight and Fluttershy with scooter toys, it would ring up as "2 @ 8.99 ea". (I think that's the price they ring at anyway). The new pony play sets ring up as "FOREVER" and I don't recall what the Friendship Express Train rings up as (since I already got it from Walmart), but the label on the shelf was different. The label on the shelf for the two new pony play sets also said "FOREVER", and only that pair of toys had that sticker.
I thought it was weird anyway. |
