be a brony
but grow fit and strong before you display any outward signs of it that way no one says shit to you and it makes the fandom look good |

Or you can tell him to do what I do and not give a fuck.
Seriously, it works. I was picked on all the time for some other things in high school until I just started ignoring it. They eventually get bored and go away, it's only fun for them when they see you squirm. Just like internet trolls. |

Other kids probably don't get the Hub, or any true Internet access. |

For me, I'm just stoic as fuck so no one bothers me or my friends. |

One day, go to your little brother's school, and ask him who's picking on him. And when, scare them. |

Welp, as someone who's an older brother and admittedly been a loser throughout grade school, I've gotta say this is depressing as hell.
All I can say for certain is that it gets better. In high school, I would've been scared to admit that I watched any cartoon. My senior year of college, I feel like I can be open with just about anyone, even total strangers, about being a brony and not give a fuck if they think of me as any less or any more. Probably part of it is me getting more comfortable with myself, but college at least can be a much more mature environment. For now, I second Sigh, NightFury, and Wooberjig. It's society's fault, but until we learn to shake antiquated gender norms and double standards, grade school bronies can't let the bullying get to them. |

I'm the eldest in my family, and I've got all of my brothers into the show. the oldest little brother is a tough cookie, but he's also quite a lot like me. On one hand, he's good at not giving a fuck about what other kids think of him, and he's told me the many stories of kids at school trying to take the piss out of him (amusingly, some of these same kids later started watching the show and became fans too), and he just ignores it. But on the other hand, he does have a temper problem like I did when I was his age. He hasn't got angry at anyone over anything to do with ponies, but he is easy to provoke in other areas, so I fear that the haters will change their tactics.
Still, he seems to know what he's getting himself into, and he's got friends. He's even ordered a Derpy bag from welovefine with his own cash, my parents are concerned about him being picked on, but he's made it this far without any incident, so I'm not too worried. The golden rule, it seems, when dealing with haters, bullies, and just plain-old jerks is to simply not give a damn about them. Enjoy what you enjoy and let everyone else make idiots of themselves. |
