Nopony is forcing you to accept or like the pairing. Fanon is merely a headcanon that a large number of fans share amongst themselves.
Oh, and Anon#4106: Lyra and Bon Bon were paired together because they were sat together. Lyra was there, sitting on the bench like a human, with a completely different pony. It wasn't until at least "Swarm of the Century" that Lyra and Bonbon were really noticed together; where Lyra started crying because the Parasprites ate the food. I quite like the pairing, either as friends or partners. There is a large saturation of the latter, but I'm not bothered, if I don't like something, I either do something about it, or just tolerate it. |

We don't ship them because they were together for a bit in the show.
That is how it started, but now we ship them because we love the way they look together. We have given them full personalities and a relationship to match. We ship them because they go together beautifully.  |

Normally, I'm with Jack on prefering straight shipping for most characters. But something about these two just . . . fit together. Still, doesn't mean everyone has to like it. As long as we don't turn into many other fandoms who fight over pairings. |

I like to imagine that they have a more platonic relationship and that they're best friends. Not because I'm homophobic - I'm a huge gay rights supporter - but because the show is about friendship, not romance.
