My life lacked fluttershy, so I made some. Ponibooru exclusive, hope you like it :) . Critique welcome, but I'm probably already aware of the dozen things wrong in it...

How on Earth did you manage to get such sharp definition on the backs of her wings like that without damaging them?

It's polymer clay. Just made small rolls, flattened them a bit, stuck side by side, added the flat 'back'. (and some wire for support.)

Ugh, this is what Hasbro SHOULD be doing. Why do they insist on still using the creepy midpoint-between-a-shetland-pony-and-a-human-fetus aesthetic from two decades ago? This company makes a fuckton of money. Sheesh.

I can't really see any faults in this at all (with the possible exception being her hind right leg, but that might be down to the perspective).

I don't think anyone has properly made a respectable three dimensional version of a pony before; the muzzle or the body usually looks a little strange. Not to mention how difficult it is deciding on how the mane should work. This is probably the closest to an in-show pony I've seen! :D

Just a few more questions: Are those transfers for her eyes and if so, what did you use? If it's paint, what sort did you use and how did you apply it. And lastly, is she very fragile?

DeeperMadness: The base colours are a dilute layer of oils on acrylic gesso. The whites of the eyes are just gesso, irises are water color + gesso (to make it even (which failed)). The highlight is dilute gesso, and didn't come out very well... The pupil and eyelashes are made with a brush tip pen, everything else with smallish calligraphic / watercolor brushes (one of which I made from my own hair, with a match for handle... wasn't very good). The cutie marks are also gesso + water colour. I thought of covering the eyes with lacquer or something to get more shine, but didn't bother.

She is fragile enough to break two legs when dropped on the floor from about ~1½ m. Unfortunately I know this from experience (luckily before painting, though).

I hope that answered your question... in painful detail :).

^That was far more thorough than I was expecting, but I'll be damned if I'm not impressed. :O

That really is staggeringly good work. I'm not sure if I would've painted her in the same way; I'm more fond of water-based paints, so I would've layered it up on an undercoat, probably using 2-3 coats (wet on dry), then added the highlights afterwards.

I can't believe you went to the trouble of making your own brush though. That's dedication for Pony if ever I saw it. For finer detail, I usually sharpen a cocktail stick and keep it well loaded, then drag it outwards. It's not foolproof, so I wouldn't recommend it as a definitive solution.

It broke my heart when you said you dropped her. :( But I'm glad to see she made a great recovery.

This is really well done and inspiring. You have a steady hand to paint dem eyes so masterfully.
