Anyone who thinks in those terms won't need a label to do so. |

Doesn't every fandom have that stereotype problem? |

^ I can't think of one for the transformers fandom. I don't even think the transformers fandom has a proper name... But for the most part, yeah, when it comes to fandoms, monkeysphere, stereotypes and whatnot. |

D'oh! how did I forget TRUKK NOT MUNKY!? |
| Scootsmod #832830 6 months ago |
Actually, most of the people who describe themselves as bronies are either: New to the fandom, or obsessed.
Very few moderate fans i know ever use the word. It's not like they deny being part of the community or anything, they just never use the word. |

^ Speaking for myself rather than others, I'd have to say that's not been my experience |
| Anonymous #833152 6 months ago |
@756: From what I've seen, every fandom has the same stereotypes. |
| BattleGT #833208 6 months ago |
I've seen moderate fans descrive themselves as such and this is going back to when I first joined the fandom in February. I did think the the "brony" thing was stupid but I was like w/e and just went with it.. You don't necessarily have to be obsessed.
I do think that it has gotten a negative connotation over the past 6 months to to people taking things too seriously. |

| BattleGT #833262 6 months ago |
Haha well,It's just that I try and take time to think about what I'm typing before I press send. Not to mention I try not to get too upset over somethings on the internet. |

#833208:
Back in february. The term brony is really looked down by a lot of people nowadays. Or maybe i just tend to hang around in the places where people simply hate the term. Regardless, amongst certain communities "Brony" has some pretty negative connotations and you WILL be run out if you call anyone "brony". #833152: Yes, basically. |
| Anonymous #833295 6 months ago |
I thought the term would be used with a bit more irony by most nowadays. |
| Scootsmod #833299 6 months ago |
#833295:
Some parts of the community probably do. Just like some parts of the community use it in earnest. |
| BattleGT #833314 6 months ago |
For the most part I've hung out in communities that are pretty chill with the term or people are apathetic about the fans and the show. To me the term basically means you're a fan of the show as it was defined back then. Though I do realize that the definition has gone under some alterations since that time though.
But if you could you describe some of these PRETTY negative connotations. |
| ZePassionateOne #833332 6 months ago |
As BattleGT said, I've seen most people using the "brony" term as just being a fan of the show. But in part, Scootsmod is also part right when the brony connotation is used as a derogative term by other people. |
