I personally like the name "Ditzy Doo" because it's like she's kinda scatterbrained, but not stupid in any sense of the word. "Derpy Hooves " implies mental retardation. |

The whole reason people attached that name to her was because Dash mentioned an (unseen) Pegasus with a reputation for being stupid.
In other words, if her name is Derpy, then she can be anything, but Ditzy Doo is CANONICALLY an idiot. Anyway, Lauren, the show's animators, the Hub's flash game designers, and Hasbro's Facebook page have all called her Derpy. So at this point, you're basically fighting against the people who actually make the show if you call her something else. |

I don't see why both names can't be used just like they were previously...and I don't see any reason how one should feel superior due to using the "correct" name. Esstentially she's just a BG with no name really if you look at it in terms of the actual show. |

@BattleGT Agreed. This is just another why of turning the fandom into a competition, which we shouldn't be doing! The only reason why some of the "sources" (for lack of a better word) call her Derpy is because WE call her Derpy, and seeing as how we're SO attached to the fanon names, we would throw a temper tantrum if we didn't get our way. (See Blind Bag Ponies and Heartstrings for an example) |
