Autism is a disorder which affects the normal functioning of the brain, particularly in the area of communication and interaction with others. The symptoms can range from very mild to severe, and there is no fixed set of symptoms - it varies greatly from case to case. The main symptoms are 1) impaired social development (particularly a lack of understanding of the emotions of others, and a lack of eye contact); 2) impaired communication (children are slow to learn speech and some have insufficient speech to make themselves understood in daily life, even by those who know them well) and 3) repetitive behaviour.
Pinkie really doesn't have any of those. |

I'm sorry about offending you. I should actually develop my comment more. There are two types of Autism - Kanner, which is what I described. And Asperger's who have normal or above normal intelligence and few neurological problems. |

Autism is alot more complicated than that. I thinks that Pinkie Pie actually can be an autist: Sometimes do Pinkie act like a child, I know a few other autists which is quite similar with, one of them is named Ulrik, he's social, but can act a bit like a Pinkie sometimes, he does not talk fast like her, but I can't stop comparing them. So I thinks that Pinkie Pie could easily be an autist, there's not much difference. |

Twilight is easily the autistic one, since her intelligence is much higher than average, but at the cost of having hard time socializing. Most likely she has Aspergers.
Pinkie on the other hand, she's not autistic, she just takes loads of party drugs. (Heh, [i]party[i] drugs...) |

As someone with Aspergers, Twilight does seem to show many of the symptoms.
Lack of social skills? Almost the whole point of the series, lol. Narrowly-defined interests? Oh yes. Speech issues? She does tend to use a lot of big words when talking, so yes. Lack of social 'empathy'? Haven't really seen this in the series, so this is a no. A strong attachment to routines or familiar objects? Yep. So...yeah, 4 out of 5. She certainly shows signs of it. |

Pinkie Pie could easily fall under the autism spectrum. There are many many kinds, and they are not very well understood. That is what makes diagnosing it so difficult. |

Come on now, Doc... let us not pretend that mental disabilities are useful for politeness' sake. I am not a proponent of eugenics but aborting fetuses if there are strong indications of autism would be a good start for a functioning society without people feeling alienated for they retardery. It's the humane thing to do. |

ADHD? I agree. I have that and was just as hyper and talkative as a kid as Pinkie Pie is in the show. And for those who don't know, ADHD = Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.
When I was a kid and not on my meds, I was running and jumping around at high speeds. Heck, I mostly got around with fast hops rather than walking. I even tended to act/talk without thinking first. I even talked very fast and about random things too. |

putting aside the whole abortion can of worms, the autism spectrum is a developmental disorder, not a genetic one. you won't be able to detect it in the womb.
moreover, human beings who for reason X or Y have difficulty functioning in society are still human beings. if your feelings about the disabled mainly have to do with how their disabilities make people uncomfortable, you've already taken a wrong turn. |

Naw, Pinkie MIGHT have a touch on some spectrum, mostly resulting in her more childlike aspects, but I think most of it is just her being super happy crazy. You don't need autism to be a hopeless optimist or anything like that. As an aspie, I'd stand by the others saying Twilight is the most likely to be autistic. |
