How can you be out of pony on this website?
Also, I'm afraid I don't understand your question. |
| misnamed #831095 6 months ago |
the difference is that Faust ascended to Alicornhood and we didn't |
| dudemang #831105 6 months ago |

| CottonTales #831526 6 months ago |
yes it is similar but that doesn't mean much every fandom does this all the time |

Let's just call it a full circle and return to our regularly scheduled pony.
... Fine. It is similar, but not the same. First, Mrs. Faust played with the G1 toys when she was a child, and according to an interview from her, she disliked the personalities of the characters in the show, so she'd simply make new personalities for her toys. Many years later, and by some sheer miracle, Mrs. Faust was given the chance to spearhead a new MLP cartoon for the new generation of children. She did have to make changes to the characters during the early stages due to a variety of reasons ranging from legal to passing EI standards, but in the end, the Mane 6 came out as the most dynamic, believable, and interesting group of friends seen in recent television. On our end of the spectrum, we are simply taking the personalities of our favourite characters from the show and adding our own twist to them. Fanon characters tend to have a backstory that is accepted by the majority of the fanbase, but specific details are always left open to each individuals interpretation. The comparison, or rather contrast, between Mrs. Faust and this fanbases approach to characters is that while we embrace canon personalities from the show, Faust rejected them and created her own characters; while we are many, Faust is only one. Our fanbase is unique for a number of reasons, but even our combined efforts pale in comparison to what Mrs. Faust has done. If it were not for her, this community would not exist, which would in turn prevent the many charitable actions the community has done, and the impact it has made - not even including the other activities of the fanbase. Faust "ascended to Alicornhood" not because she made headcanon with her toys, but because she created a show that has directly and indirectly changed lives globally. And that, my friends, is something very few of us will ever achieve. |
