It's more about running capabilities though, not walking. There are many mechanisms in human body that dont even really work unless youre running or jogging.
But once you are, oh boy, humans are the supreme kings of the fields. |

What are these "humans" you speak of? |

Humans: The "Jason" of the animal kingdom. |

If I recall, this was a major evolutionary advantage for humans. It allowed our ancestors to hunt prey that was faster than them but unable to maintain their speed for long distances. |

it's not this
it's not ponies can run faster than humans, and they can run for longer if people could outpace horses we sure as hell wouldn't have used them as a means of transportation for hundreds of years the advantage is that ponies need all four of their limbs to move, whereas humans need only two to move, leaving them free to use their upper limbs to aid their movement abilities --> humans are far more agile and versatile than ponies humans can climb ladders and boulders, cross fences and other wild terrain using their limbs the only option a pony has in order to get over something (that's taller than their legs are long) is to jump and if they can't jump higher than the obstacle they can't get over it i give these things a lot of thought |

the bipedal movement system is high versatility, but very low efficiency and low-speed
quadrapedal is higher speed, higher effiency, lower versatility and the wheeled movement system is extremely high speed and high efficiency but almost no versatility compared to the others |

Humans have more stamina than most creatures, and that includes horses. A horse is way faster, but it will become exhausted over a long journey a lot sooner than a human. It doesn't "make sense" if you don't know the biology, but if you do then you'd understand it. A person can literally walk all day without stopping, whereas a horse needs to stop and rest after a certain distance. |

think about it
on a street, you want a bicycle because you want to take advantage of its very high energy efficiency (you can take yourself farther with a bike than on foot for the same amount of energy expended) and its high top speed (to get to your destination more quickly) but once you hit shitty terrain you get off your bike and walk it because the wheels don't have the versatility that legs do think of quadrapeds as being halfway between wheels and bipeds |

If we couldn't out pace them we wouldn't abe to ride em. 1.In War, horse are used since its a short distant and they are powerfull. 2. Sitting is easy 3. Humans pace the horse for optimal distance, but everything needs fuel/rest |

Yep, I saw a race once between humans and horses and the humans won, because of these reasons. |
