I think some of your reading is off on the third row. That isn't Celestia, but Luna standing before the pillar of fire. Also, After that, Celestia never appears again, it's always Luna. And in the cartouche-like frames, there is only a moon, rather than the combined sun and moon from when they were ruling together. |

Man, i just love the pic where Celestia, Luna and that one Unicorn stand before the dragons and receive the egg.
I really wanna know how Celestia got Spike´s egg and if dragons are all just beasts or a highly intelligent race with a great but yet for us unknown culture. Cause if a baby dragon can write and read so easily then it shouldn´t get lost when being an adult. Granted, given the *curse of greed* they´ll lose all aspects of *humanity* and are terrible nightmares, but thar red dragon actually did listen to the ponies and talked as well, so if grown up normally they should keep their intelligenz. Maybe they got a dragon city they return too all few hundred years, similar to the whale graveyard, a gigant city meant for dragons to sleep the eternal sleep, with a huge senat to talk about thousands of years politics and an arena for young dragons to fight in. Man, too bad we probably won´t ever see such a thing in the MLP series.^^ |

I assume they were unspoken rulers of the lands not just where Equestria lies a the moment but across almost the whole planet. But just as any other ancient race that reached peak of its advantage - they are slowly wither with time, leaving the place to new, quickly growing and advancing race - ponykind. This explains why some of the dragons we have seen in the show seems to be quite low intelligent - it just the leftovers of the old race, the lowest and primitive members. Since the infrastructure and society of the dragons pretty much does not exist anymore - they degrading slowly. But there is still some royal species left, a whispers from the past, the Wise Ones. They are just like alicorns of ponies amongst the dragons. I, actually, requested a commish that portrays the scene when the last Wise One leaves this world and Princess Celestia pays final visit to the old friend of hers. As for the scene you mentioned - yeah, this is some kind of trust between ponykind and dragons. Each generation they offer the egg to ponies, as metaphor to offering the wisdom, respect and support from their race. Or something like that, Jake didn't really want to talk much about that. |

Bottom to top:
Bottom row: wild fauna of Equestria. The primitive state. 2nd up: Celestia and Luna defeat Discord. They rule for some time. Dragons enter Equestria and it is learned that unicorns are required to hatch their eggs. 3rd up: Luna becomes Nightmare Moon and Celestia imprisons her. Time passes; ponies march to war under Celestia's banner. 4th up: the Mane 6 free Nightmare Moon and reimprison Discord. Right side begins the future; Celestia passes away and some deer-like pony arrives, possibly a reincarnation. 5th up: future technological society. First contact is made. The right side is unclear -- perhaps weapons or ships. The plaque may identify Equestria, or perhaps it is an acknowledgement of receiving the Voyager plaque from Earth. The top row seems like simply great heroes of Equestrian history. You can see Starswirl on the far left, some general or soldier, Twi and AJ, some hidden pony, Pinkie Pie and Rarity, RD and Fluttershy, one I don't know, Dr. Whooves, Derpy, and anothe runknown. |

@435: Very small sample to translate, unfortunately. Hopefully this is the center of a larger complex with sufficient writing to make a usable sample.

Day 137, 2459
An Amazing discovery! After days of digging in the mountside ruins we stumbled on a hidden chamber. It was marvelous a entire history preserved in gold, like that of the ancient Voyager. It seems my previous theories of a Equine-like race being the dominant species of this planet have been proven true, but thats not all, nor the most astonishing! It seems that this planet was inhabited by a virtual menagerie of all the fantastic creatures we have dismissed on our own planet, dragons, manticores, unicorns, pegasi, cockatrice and chimeras. All though I cannot say this for sure, I feel that this is what happened, that before us is not a religious monument, but the entire history of a civilization. However, unless we can translate the inscriptions in this chamber, it will be forever a mystery. We have a lot of work ahead of us. |

@#820628: Actually, I think events are simply proceeding -- in normal Equestrian reading order -- from the futuremost event to the pastmost.
(Given the last line of that tablet, there's a good chance that Equestrian is read from right to left.) |

I thought the fourth row bottom to top is Luna banishing Celestia for some reason, but dying makes more sense. I don't think the reincarnation bit is right, though. Note the markings between each of the two panels on the right. The bottom one shows the moon and sun, when they ruled together. The middle one shows just the sun (Solar Empire) and the top one shows just the moon (Lunar Republic). Also, the deer like creature with the tree is never seen again. That panel's pretty much the only one I don't get. |

@820693 Actually, Twi is AFTER AJ, she's the hidden one. The one on the left of AJ doesn't have the right hair, but the one after her does, and it would make more sense in the order of things. AJ, Twi, Pinkie, Rarity, RD, Fluttershy. |

the top ones seem to be equestria a high-tech society, Luna and a robotic-looking (or perhaps armoured) pony together with what is probably a changeling, spaceships, a map, and the names of the planets shown on the map. |
