When I grow up, I want to live in my parents' basement and draw underage cartoon ponies getting tentacle raped. |

@anon53 i don't get what problem have the americans (it is an USA thing, i don't know other country with it) with people that still live with thier parents after they turned 18, in the rest of the world people can still live with thier parents and nobody complains or insult, over my country, usually, people leave thier parents house when they get married or still live together |

It's a cultural thing. It's not so much if you still live at home after 18, but if you still live at home after finishing your education (with maybe a 1-2 years grace period for people who need to "find themselves" or something, heh) then yeah it starts to become a bit of a stigma.
I don't really care about the stigma, but I can tell you this. Had I continued living at home after I finished university, I'd have gone insane. It's really just nice to have your own space. |

i see, i am happy than that "stigma" doesn't exist here, houses being expensive and the fact that families like to stick together are some reasons for it |
| Karadros #814311 6 months ago |
Haha, stigma. Fun.
Leave school, look for a job, don't find one for three years. Not like you can find a place of your own with no wage! Find a job, yay! Shit wage, part time, but no other jobs. Get made redundant after five years, can't find another job because unemployment is at a considerable high. Not enough money to find your own place, still. Have people insult you on the internet. Wooh. |

Things are slowly changing in America, I think. The economy has made it a lot more common for people to be living with their parents because houses cost so much and jobs pay so little it just isn't practical to move out; if you lose your job you're gonna lose your house. I myself can barely afford a condo unit (and it isn't even a very nice one) despite working full time for almost ten years and having a college degree. But yeah, the cultural norm in America, because it's so individualistic here, has been "Once you're an adult, you're not your parents' responsibility any more, fend for yourself." |
