Yes, because sad stuff NEVER happens in children's entertainment... |

Damn, Faust...
Applejack: My parents are DEEAAAAAAAD!!! |
| Calpain #812541 6 months ago |
Poor AJ. If her parents are dead she sure has gotten screwed over by the show. |
| Azreck #812552 6 months ago |
Really, in all honesty, I could see them making it a lesson. maybe about how to console friends during a hard time or what not. It's definitely an important lesson to be learned. |
| Azreck #812557 6 months ago |
Or maybe that should be left to the gimdark/sad fics... |
| Anonymous #812559 6 months ago |
Well the soon to be aired Applejack episodes may shed some light on AJ and her family. |

Kids are more mature (most of the time) than we give them credit for. Back in the 80's-and early to mid 90's darker sub-plots were common place. Now adays shows talk down and shelter kids from the darker things of our world, which is fucking stupid. |
| Calpain #812608 6 months ago |
^
I agree with you. I remember watching plenty of shows in the 90s as a kid which dealt with some pretty dark stuff. Too bad adults nowadays believe kids can't understand mature material. |
| Atiarotias #812613 6 months ago |
^I'm with that.
More they try to hide things, kids figure out anyhow anyway, didn't we all? |
| marioandsonic #812620 6 months ago |
@ Zincy
Couldn't agree more. When you look at movies made by Pixar, Disney, and prime-Don Bluth, those films prove that you don't have to talk down to kids when it comes to sensitive subjects like death. Heck, even Transformers, one of Hasbro's own properties, killed Optimus Prime in the animated movie! (Sure, it was so Hasbro could introduce new characters and thus sell more toys, but still...) I'm not saying that we should take subjects like death and rub it in their faces, but not showing it at all is the other extreme. By showing death scenes in a well-constructed manor, it helps the child realize that life is a precious and fragile thing, and that they should cherish it and live theirs to the fullest. It also helps them prepare for, say, the death of a pet or a family member, and can help them learn how to cope with that kind of emotional pain. Otherwise, when something tragic does happen in their lives, they might not know how to deal with it properly. /rant |

I like to think that AJ's parents are badass pioneers helping to create new towns in the frontier, much like Braeburn is doing at Apple-loosa. |
| Zincy #812627 6 months ago |
Its the "PC" world we live in. Everyone is afraid of offending everyone else, and anything thats not competently child friendly is burned at the fucking stake. |
| PVRyohei #812668 6 months ago |
Too sad? Really?
I grew up in the 90s, and I remember quite a few animations were people died (The Lion King is the greatest example), and no one ever complained, but now that children are far smarter than back then, it's considered too sad? And we're not even talking about a death scene, just 2 character having died before the show even started. You know what? Fuck this shit! I don't care if her parents show up and live with her, in my headcanon they are DEAD, and if I ever write a fic where AJ is important, they shall be DEAD! Fuck! |

It's my little pony, Death is a little grim.
It's a happy-go-lucky show about girl power and friendship. Then again they try to solve many of their problems with brute force and violence. |
| Zincy #812699 6 months ago |
MLP can't be a little dark? G1 wants a word with you... |
| Anonymous #812719 6 months ago |
@Zincy
Those were the 80's, a badass time when kids can watch their heroes die in a horrible way, you'll be always remembered Optimus Prime. |
| Zincy #812722 6 months ago |
2719 Optimus died for our sins. |
| PinkieDie #812770 6 months ago |
G1, Transformers, reaganomics.
What are the 3 lamest things of the 80's? |
| Zincy #812782 6 months ago |
Born in the 90's I bet ea Pinkie? |

Something tells me we're gonna find out more about Applejack's parents in The Last Roundup. |
| MisterSeven #813002 6 months ago |
Cue fanfiction adjusting to this implication, then having Applejack's parents appear as spontaneously as Rarity's. |

People should learn to keep up with the times.
The more older the society gets, the more polite and politically correct it will be. |
| Doctor_Whooves #813742 6 months ago |
I'm more surprised she even knows Octy by name. That's awesome; but then so is Octavia. |
| Anonymous #813778 6 months ago |
@Anon735 Politically Correct and Polite are two VERY DIFFERENT things.
The 19th century had far more polite people and alot less politically correct people. The 20th century had alot less polite people and far more politically correct people. Prove me wrong! |
| Anonymous #813795 6 months ago |
@Anon778
They are different, yes. Never claimed otherwise. I think the 20th century is more polite. Everyone I met in RL was been more friendly, I always saw people helping each other. This wild west is most in the internet. Most because people can do what they want with no consequences in it. I cannot prove you wrong, this is more subjective. It's just what I see everyday. How do you see this century? |

gaston killed them |

Maybe they're ghosts who explore new lands to sell stuff. |
| Psychopomf #995544 5 months ago |
First off, WOO! Lauren knows who Octavia is!
Second off, I'm more concerned about the pegasi. NONE of them seem to have anything resembling families. |
| Niggoslav_Krawczyk #1034650 4 months ago |
gaston killed them Want this. Explorers who found their way to the human world through some mystical gate-like construct. Just their bad luck that Bambi and the Prince managed to get away and Gaston just HAD to shoot something. Or, you know, just got eaten by a hungry dragon. Somewhere out there is a dragon with a matching hat to Applejack's. And when she meets him, SHIT GON GO DOWN SON |
