I was going to facepalm and bitch about word being scared of nipples, but your wolverine metaphor is awesome. I'll try to keep rating right. |
| Anonymous #812257 6 months ago |
While I do see the point being made, I don't seen any reason for there to be a questionable rating going by this train of thought. Maybe it's just the way I consider the questionable tag. |

.........
*facepalm* You just don't get it. |
| NightJack #812357 6 months ago |
I'll put it this way, Safe=SFW, Explicit=NSFW, and Questionable=Might be SFW or NSFW but not on the level of Explicit.
It's the middle ground that can be interpreted as ether one. |
| Scootsmod #812363 6 months ago |
Nudity with bits is always NSFW, thereby always explicit.
Saucy poses and such without bits are questionable. It's not that hard. |
| HeinousActsZX #812364 6 months ago |
Is that from the comic where Wolverine bitches about Bush, even though he's Canadian?
I remember some guys at the comic shop ragin' about that. |
| sigh #812366 6 months ago |
I guess by your train of logic we should censor those documentaries where African women are waling around with half a shirt? (Hint: the other half is on the stomach)
The whole point of questionable is to hide stuff that, while still NSFW most of the time, wouldn't classify as porn. If we tagged anything as Explicit just because it has a bare boob, why do we even need the Questionable rating? |
| NightJack #812373 6 months ago |
Think you sigh. |
| Aggressively-Pastel #812388 6 months ago |
Y'all are describing the way it works elsewhere. The ratings work differently here (and IMO, it causes confusion and is a bad thing, but I digress). What the rules say is:
"If the submission might be considered inappropriate, by you or other users, rate it at least Questionable when uploading. If the submission might be considered NSFW, by you or other users, rate it Explicit" - my emphasis. It then goes on to say that tags are just as important. Lots of "might be"s in there, which I sort of like because it forces you to think in someone else's shoes, but for the tl,dr crowd: rate funky stuff a notch higher than you would elsewhere, or complain to the staff to get the rules changed. |
| LucasGAN #812415 6 months ago |
we should tag everything safe 'cause why the fuck not |
| NightJack #812419 6 months ago |
The problem with that Aggressive is that a lot of people have called said more often that things marked as explicit are questionable and less of things marked as questionable are explicit, what the OP is stating is one of the most common of them, far more people find boobs just being there(nothing happening to them) as questionable not explicit.
For the short of that, we do just as you said but find it's not explicit to the vast majority. |
| sigh #812467 6 months ago |
Pastel you just proved my point exactly by posting that rule. If we start classifying anything with even the smallest of exposure as Explicit, then it's a very slippery slope to allowing prudes to enforce their will, marking anything even remotely saucy as explicit. This also causes a witch hunt of sorts, which does nothing but hurt the site.
And don't say I'm overreacting, I've seen it happen at least twice before, and it took an act from pretty much 90% of the moderators to bring things back to "sane mode". |
| Aggressively-Pastel #812731 6 months ago |
@LucasGAN @sigh Those are the rules. They seem workable and sane, but out of step with what people probably want. I don't really see any evidence of prudes "enforcing their will", nor any sort of evolving witch hunt, but perhaps you can provide some? For now I don't buy your slippery slope argument one bit because you're not yet demonstrating the chain of implications necessary. But like I say, the difference demonstrably causes confusion, and that's a bad thing. Also, file me under those who normally call tasteful or non-sexual nudity Questionable, and porny nudity or sex Explicit. Similar deal for violence and mutilation. But that's elsewhere; I wouldn't object to a change of the rules to match that here, but I shan't be demanding one. For now, the current rules work for me, bizarre though they are. Users can always change their content settings to see more, and filter out the squick. |
| NightJack #812752 6 months ago |
Pastel the tasteful or non-sexual nudity is the point of all this, you can have bare breast in a picture and not be Explicit, but the OP is saying if ANY bare breast are in it then mark it Explicit EVEN the tasteful ones. |
| Dark_Horst #814093 6 months ago |
ONLY nudity displaying PRIMARY sexual organs is explicit. why can't you just get that into your thick skulls? |
| Anonymous #814108 6 months ago |
I don't know why NSFW people are complaining. I am sure most of you have the explicit filter off anyway. |
| Aggressively-Pastel #814131 6 months ago |
@Dark_Horst:
Do you really think that nudity is safe for work in the majority of places? News for you: it isn't. The current rules seem fairly clear to me. Also it seems clear that pissing and moaning in a meta comment thread won't get them changed: presumably you should contact the moddies. (Can't the categories just be renamed to "squeaky clean", "possibly inappropriate", "NSFW" or similar? Seems that would keep everyone happy.) @NightJack: The OP is quite correct, and has clearly bothered to read and understand the rules as they currently stand. Seems a lot of posters in this thread haven't (which is bad, go read them), or disagree with them (which is fine, take it to the mods and get them changed; but please apply them correctly in the meantime). |

^How about categories like:
Squeaky clean (children will love it) - only 100% pure Bit Raunchy (all in good clean fun/for teens) - sex jokes, swearing, suggestive posing Meaningful Nudity (you may want to leave your filters open for this) - NSFW material that is nevertheless not too harsh on your virgin soul Hotter Than A Rainbow (straight clop folder) - pornographic content only But now that I think about it, how do boobs and whatnot get on a pony in the first place? So yeah, I guess I have no complaint if those all go into the Explicit folder. It will not cause me to miss any important images. |
| YAUTJA #816542 6 months ago |
or you could just filter nudity while in public. |
