@Anon #148 Interesting. I just went on wiki to look it up. Apparently this Chancellor also traditionally carries a red briefcase, and is allowed to drink anything (including alcohol) whilst making a speech on the budget. Nice job. |

I like how no one seems to realize that she's not Prime Minister but Chancellor. The clue is in the Door no. and the red briefcase containing the budget (one of which was owned by Gordon Brown who had his custom made in the workshops in Rosyth or so I believe.).
Either way, I still like the picture. |

The "Hearth's Warming Eve" episode got me to thinking, though: if Earth Ponies had a democracy with elected leaders back in the day, does Princess Celestia have to put up with a Parliament? I'd like to see that, if for nothing else than watching a pony version of Question Time. |

^ Well, it's really just a play on her title of "chancellor" in the HWE play. The title has been and is applied to many different offices with different duties and degrees of power. In Germany and Austria their "chancellor" is the head of the federal government and effectively does the job a prime minister does in other governments (e.g. British).
Also bear in mind the "leaders" of the three pony races in the HWE play weren't the heads of their government/monarchy/military - we had Princess Platinum, not Queen Platinum, and Commander Hurricane, not Captain/Admiral/Marshal Hurricane. |
