If they aren't in heat they shouldn't want him, and if they are, they should be old enough to be clients. Does this universe have both estrus cycles AND year round normal libido? That would be... interesting for the mares in long term relationships. Not sure if it would be awesome or really frustrating... |

What most don't seem to understand is that a sentient being with an estrus cycle is going to make a woman on her period sound relaxing. We're talking eldritch-horror levels of "holy shit don't break my pelvis" here. Thankfully for the male pony population, according to our fandom roughly 90% of mares are gay. |

^Yes but in 90% of the depictions of "mares in heat" even the gay ones go for males when in season.
Also if they have year round sexual availability, an estrus period should be comparatively mild to one who only mates on estrus. |

Equine estrus is based on the length of the day, with them naturally going into estrus during Spring or Summer. As sentient equines, the ponies of Equestria are possibly capable of having sex for pleasure year 'round, safe sex practices would only be necessary to prevent spreading STDs. Although as others said, once spring comes around, the males would be much needed. |
