I like the idea of a story arc. I do not like the idea of getting a war in my ponies. Or ponies in my war. |

sure, might be fun |

Meh, only if they don't turn the whole pony cartoon into a huge trainwreck.
Remember Drawn Together season 3? Or Family Guy season most of them? |

I'll be happy if S3 won't be terrible.
Ponies are good in either style but if it turns out a trainwreck... well i guess S1 (and possibly 2) will carry the legacy for some time. |

I'd prefer the story arc to be like a bunch of Chekhov's guns sprinkled through the season, with an episode at the end of the season pulling all the triggers and making an awesome finale.
Basically, like they did with the Grand Galloping Gala in S1, only with more adventure. That said, I quite enjoy the way things are right now. |

I concur with Mattatta, that would an excellent solution of creating a viable plot. |

Don't mess with success. |

That's very vague so can't really say. |

op, are you trolling? |

More adventure and more (or return) villains. Nightmare Moon and Discord were the only ones and they were dealt with quite easily. Trixie is the only viable antagonist right now and she hasn't re-appeared.
I really didn't like the slice of life stuff much. I like it when Ponyville is in danger like the parasprite episode or like when they travel to a far away place like the Applousa episode. |

^ But slice of life works better for character development as it makes a better setting for showing the past then adventures do. |

I'm fine with whatever as long as funny, cool, d'aww, and WTF as it's always been. |

This show is driven more by characters, hence the Slice-of-Life episode style. The conflicts are usually due to things happening to the characters and things going on in their relationships to one another. Yes, there are major conflicts that affect the general populace, such as the Dragon breathing too much smoke over Ponyville, Discord, and of course, Nightmare Moon. But even then, the characters are what drive the story along.
Don't get me wrong, I like a good adventure story, and FiM's writers have made some very good episodes that follow the "adventure" formula. But to dedicate half a season to a large story arc would be too drastic of a change to the show. I like the way how S1 worked a build up to "The Best Night Ever" by dropping references to it in earlier episodes, as early as the third episode, no less. While the S1 finale wasn't an "Adventure", the build up to it made me as excited as the Mane 6 when the Gala finally arrived. It made me relate to the characters much more throughout that episode. Take the same idea of having references being made to the Season finale throughout the Season, and apply it to an "Adventure" story, and you get the same anticipation and excitement when the episode finally airs. |

If it ain't broke don't fix it |
| DPV111 #804797 7 months ago |
Well, I'd be OK if they threw in an experimental curveball now and then (not that some of the episodes don't do that already...) as long as they don't majorly change the entire show. |
| d715 #804817 7 months ago |
It should be 80% slice 20% story arc |
| NightJack #804834 7 months ago |
That is exactly what I was thinking Mattatatta. |
| Anonymouz #804851 7 months ago |
So what's the Grand Galloping Gala equivalent of S2? I haven't noticed anything in particular recurring yet. |
| Mattatatta #804932 7 months ago |
If they are doing a hidden arc, then chances are we won't truly know for sure until an episode is aired that makes all the pieces fall into place.
In another meta image, I've theorised that "The Last Roundup" could be of a similar vein of the Gala arc, but on a smaller scale and with a more subtle approach. |

Don't fix what isn't broken. |
