Thats one dirty-ass train, wtf is it sparking like that for? Even if its electric I wouldn't think it should be showering sparks and smoke all over the place like that if its working properly. |

The sparks are caused by the brakes, not anything at all to do with the engines.
You can tell from the lack of overhead wires or extra rails that it isn't electric - it's likely diesel. |

This isn't a passenger train, this is a piece of maintenance equipment known as a rail grinder. It grinds off burrs and "mushroomed" steel off of the railheads. |
