Blues x Sparkler?
Go on... |

Blues closed his eyes and laid back. The cell wasn't exactly comfortable, but it was quiet for once. And the smell of smoke and spilt alcohol was gone. A smell that had been pervading his nose for far, far too long of late. It had almost been a relief when the door of the club had been smashed in and the tender dragged away for questioning as to his practices. Blues had gone quietly. He didn't want a fuss. They'd let him keep his saxophone. That was a relief. The trombonist had tried to batter the guards with his instrument and gone down in a pile of golden horse-shoes. Blues had simply listened and trotted away with his officer for questioning. That had been a few hours ago. He'd told them everything. He didn't like to think he was a snitch, but he'd had about enough of the bar staff's lies and dirty deals. The money had been good… been necessary, Celestia damn it. He had a decent flat now for once. He looked up as a collection of iron-shod hooves clopped towards his cell, and he looked up. Eyes flashed and reflected the gold of the lamp one of the Lunar Guards carried - shifts must have changed. Between them was a smaller mare. Purple of coat, eye and tail. "He's the one?" she asked. The guard not carrying the lantern nodded. "Yes, Miss Sparkler. The one who told us everything. Thanks to him we found all your property." Blues blinked, then noticed the cleanly-cut blue diamonds on Sparkler's flank. He remembered the laughter, the raucousness of the stallions in the bar as they talked about their raid on a single jeweller and taken away her stock. "Could you leave us, please?" she asked. The guards shook their heads. Blues was impressed. The Lunar Guards took their job seriously. Sparkler sighed, and trotted towards Blues. "I'd like to say thank you for your honesty," she said. "I… I've got my life back now. I've been staying with my stepmother and half sister for a while now. It will be good to stop leeching off them again." The mare smiled, and Blues felt a tinge come to his cheeks. "It was nothing ma'am… I just wish I'd got the courage to say so earlier." A guard coughed loudly, and Blues guessed he agreed. Sparkler waved it away. "You told them in the end. That's what matters." She looked at the guards. "Take his bail out of the gems and money in holding at the moment. It's the least I can do." Blues was taken aback. He stared at Sparkler as the jeweller turned back to him. M… Miss Sparkler?" he asked, a little taken aback by her generosity. A jeweller? Giving away her bits and gems? He looked around the room for some way to thank her for her generosity, but all he could settle on was his saxophone. "That's… far too kind of you," he said, picking it up. "I… I've got nothing to pay you back with. Perhaps a song would do?" The guards turned and trotted away as Sparkler beamed and nodded. There was nothing to see here. Not for them, anyway. |
