@Robomorons: I was going to say the name sounds like a weapon from a Mega Man game.
Also, I believe "Maverick" is the term you are thinking of for MMX bosses. |

Rainbow Splash is better. You shouldn't concern yourself about what people assume, "Splash" is a great name for someone who paints the sky too.
Fluttersky sounds good to me, but it kinda calls for "Skylight Sparkle" to be changed or else there are too many "Sky" names... |

Originally I thought of that, having thought of Fluttersky first, but I couldn't come up with another name I preferred to it, so I kept it. Besides, it'll make sense. |

Okay, so Pinkie swapped* Elements (and personality, to a degree) with Twilight, Rainbow Dash with Rarity... so that means Fluttershy swapped* with Applejack, obviously.
Although I'm really curious on how Rarity is going to work out... Unicorn athletics... maybe magic competition? *Well, not really 'swapped' per-say, but you get the idea. |
