A lot of writing is just piles and piles of text. Condensing it down is unfortunately not something taught in most writing classes, rather they they hav minimum word counts. Bad habits start early, and tend not to go away.
I stay away from the longer fics, but even shipping fics with less than 10 chapters are far too wordy. |

It was good when it started, but it got way too wordy way to ofast.
Author needs to learn the function of the delete key and the self-criticism to use it on several paragraphs at once. |

I don't see the problem. Yes, it was insanely long, yes, it could have easily told the story quicker. But it was enjoyable to read, and I for one, am disappointed that is had ended. If a story is still enjoyable, the longer it is the better, because you get more entertainment out of it. |

I actually like longer fics. They have more time to tell the story than short ones. I actually generally refuse to read anything with less than 5,000 words per chapter. |

I think Fo:E was really epic and deserved to be this long, if not even longer.
I never really felt that anything was wasted or that something was "filler" at all. There was a lot of "world-building" and character-development. Yeah it was hard to follow at times, but for me it was only because the updates took so long. In the end I created my own short summarys to remind me of where the story is and what's happening. Fallout:Equestria is propably the best story I've ever read, not only as a fanfiction, but in general. And I read a lot. |

It inspired me to write, though my FO:E fic is gathering dust, but the inspiration carried me on to write a one-shot based on Hearth's Warming Eve, finish it, and have the guts to post it. |

don't you hate it when you buy a video game and finish it in 10-20 hours? my favorite games all have 100+ hours. the top of wich is monster hunter: freedom unite at 1103 hours.
it's the same for fanfics. if you really enjoy something, then lenght is a blessing |
