Keep in mind Mario Kart 64 was only the second game in the series. They probably wanted to try making Rainbow Road a different kind of hard. Like making the track ridiculously long, having jumps that could toss you off the track, and those really annoying Chomps. |

Actually in my opinion this was one of the hardest rainbow roads because one with the walls no one could fall of unless they jumped stupidly which meant everyone was on you no matter what even the worst players and secondly those silver chain chomps. |

I thought N64 Rainbow Road was pretty fun, mainly because if you jumped right at the start of the track you could catch some pretty ridiculous air due to that long downslope. Also you could get blindsided by the Chain Chomps if they showed up when you were rounding a curve, and the computer AI didn't even bother trying to dodge them which was more than a little amusing. |

It's not the most action-packed track, but it's actually a nice change of pace on occasion. I find it relaxing most of the time. |
