I'd take it to a nearby lost and found.
Found a cell phone at a bus stop. It was locked up. All the places nearby were useless for that purpose. (Bar, gas station, fast food joint - there's always a thief in those places.) So, I took it home, me and my friend unlocked it to get the address book. Called the owner, placed it at a supermarket's lost and found. They picked it up. Wanted to offer me a reward, but I refused. I rewarded them by being honest, and that's enough for me. |

I'd usually hand the thing in to a local police station myself but that's good too. |
