Out of all of the CMC, I would like to think Scootaloo would be the Jewish one. First off, Scootaloo and Jew rhyme, so it is 20% cooler, and secondly, she is the only Jewish pony in town so she keeps her status of being Foreveralone.jpg on Christmas. |

@PVR, I understand what you mean, but bear in mind it's also an ethnic/cultural symbol, so perhaps they're wearing it in that context. But yeah, with Celestia and all, I would think this would be a sort of ethnic expy for Judaism, not overtly religious per se.
Also to Dumb_Rock, Long story short: Main Jewish temple was defiled by the Syrians, Jews got together and kicked them out, needed 8 days of oil in the lamps to consecrate the place again, Only had 1 days' worth but it totally lasted 8. The menorah (thing with candles) celebrates that, and the dreidel (top thingy on the right) has the first letters of Hebrew for "A great miracle happened here". The prezzies , btw, are not originally part of it, but since it kept comin' around xmas, and that became a big gift holiday in America, it kinda seeped into Hannukah as well. |

The Star of David isn't a religious symbol in the same way you think of, say, the cross in Christianity. It's more a cultural thing. You won't see Stars of David on altars or being looked to as a representation of god or the holy spirit.
I have a few Jewish friends who are religiously atheist or agnostic, but continue to hold to the Star of David as a cultural symbol. |
