^It comes in two varieties.
One is classic antisemitism based off of weird conspiracies and passed-down religious hatred. The other is modern and political based on the actions of the state of Israel in the middle-east. However, generalized hate of a people and a religion is always wrong, regardless of origin. Blame individual people for their actions, or individual beliefs for being hateful, but don't tar all followers with the same brush. |

@591, Actually, Jews are a distinct ethnic group, as well as a religion and to a degree a culture. This is causing some interesting situations re: right of return to Israel, etc, but all three aspects are legitimate. And regardless of what you call it, it's still basically rubbish.
Also to 580, I would add a new wrinkle: the postmodern, "Ironic" crowd who think they're being terribly clever and daring spewing the same crap that they heard on South Park, that or they're just out to get a rise out of people. These are the ilk who, when called out on their crap, fall back to the whole "C'mon, dude, it's just a joke!" defense. No. It's lame, weak trolling at best, antiquated BS at worst, and has no place in the world, least of all the MLP community. |
