I was just curious about it not ragin' at all but I knew a snowstorm was a brewin' but ye this explanation is satisfactory, though I still maintain that as it is a play they just used the current flag to represent the moral of the story but w\e, everypony go and put "a circle of friends" on repeat and 3 second crossfade and sing out loud! |

We weren't fighting, someone's just trying to convinvce everything that because the manes are differently colored they are not the same symbols. Seriously, I don't care if that's your headcanon, but you don't need to push that onto everyone who points out that there was a flag of the sisters.
Personally I don't see why a symbol of unity would include sun and moon anyway. |

Too many references to Tia and Luna. Better theory would be that Celestia and Luna are manmade Gods, that were specifically made to resemble the icons used on the flag. |

Well, I figured they just used the current Equestrian flag/banner to symbolize Equestria, even if that wasn't the flag/banner used at the time. Because 1) it's just a play and everypony knows what they mean, and 2) we do the same thing!
What I mean by 'we do the same thing', is we commonly use the Naval Jack of the Confederate States of America (or the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia; same design as the Jack but square instead of rectangular) to stand for the CSA, even though that was NOT the actual official flag of the CSA. (Yes, it was *part* of the second and third national flags; don't nitpick!) And no one gets confused because everyone know what you're referring to. Plus they may not have wanted to confuse all the little ponies in the audience who haven't learned all the details of Equestrian history yet. Just like we haven't. |
