*Insert tasteless joke about Fluttershy receiving corporal punishment for this under SHaria Law.* |

I've seen this before, but it's so wonderful that I'm glad I get to see it again. |

I do say we need more muslim Flutts. |

@DPV111
Corporal punishment nothing. In most Muslim nations, Fluttershy would be killed by her own father and/or brothers for what the picture is depicting. Hell, there have been several cases in America of fathers gunning down their daughters for wearing their hair out, never mind something like this. |

Crap. I feel bad for not knowing most of this, but at the same time good that I have never have to see such an atrocity being done to innocent women.
Sweden, we are so far away from the world. |

Fluttershy doesn't strike me as a self-loathing misogynist, so I doubt she'd be muslim. |

Oh man, in my country they make women wear shirts or else they get arrested too. Can you believe the nerve? |

No. They would not be killed in "most Muslim countries." In a select few Middle Eastern nations, yes, they might be killed. But this practice stretches across all the Abramaic religions, and honour killings are in fact proportionately highest in the Christian communities of Lebanon.
That being said, great image. |

^ Yes, she would be killed in most Muslim countries, especially in those countries that specifically derive their legal code from Islam.
Really, I don't know why anyone would choose Fluttershy as a symbol of female oppression. |

Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey, Sudan, Nigeria, Morocco, Maylaysia, Uzbekistan, Syria, Kazakhstan, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia, Guinea, Azerbaijan, Tajikstan, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Kyrzgstan, Turkmenistan, Albania. There. That's a majority of Muslim nations where she wouldn't necessarily be killed for kissing someone on the cheek. There's plenty more, but I think I made my point here. And have you ever read the Koran? Nowhere does it say to kill a woman who kisses someone on the cheek. It's a sign of affection and has nothing to do with sexuality. The hijab as an institution predates Islam, and comes from the need to have some sort of facial covering when you're in a desert. That's the same reason the Saudi men wear their keffiyas. Would you say the Saudi men were being oppressed because they all wear those? And finally, the Koran just says to dress modestly. It says the same thing about men and women, and I'm not sure where this notion of "inherently oppressive towards women comes from." It may be, but certainly no more than any of the other Abramaic religions. Most of these issues in Islam derive from the fact that certain elements within Arabic society warped the Koran to fit their own ends, and continue to do that to this day (the Wahhabis and the Sauds). But saying Islam represents female oppression is like saying the Cross represents pedophilia, or the Star of David represents dropping white phosphorous on a civilian population, or Buddhism is a symbol of genocide, or any number of atrocities I could mention. It just doesn't make sense.
And quite frankly, I'm disappointed with you all. I thought this was a community of love and tolerance, and within four posts you've accused 1.4 billion people in the world of being misogynistic murderers. Evey single Islam related image on this site has devolved into this sort of attack on Muslims. |

...actually, kissing on the cheek is totally normal in the middle east. No way she would be arrested for that. It's only lesbians if you want lesbians. |
